Biennale History

IC 2Ilaria Cuccagna was born in 1981 in Cesena, Italy. She lives and works between Como, Italy and Switzerland.

Ilaria attended the sculpture course at the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino and the Saint Charles Fine Art Department in Valencia, Spain. She also studied photography. Since 2008 she has been collaborating with some art foundries in Italy, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, working in bronze sculpture. Ilaria mainly works in sculpture, installation and site-specificity. Sculpture and photography are vehicles, languages which slowly become the subject of her research.

Use of organic materials and references to nature are permanent features in Ilaria's projects, born from her interest in matter and its transformations. In 2011 she was invited to participate in the FDV Art Residency Programme, Fabbrica del Vapore, in Milan. In 2014 Ilaria took part in a workshop held by the choreographer Marcos Morau in Ravenna. Her works have been displayed in several exhibitions including the Officine dell'Arte in 2012, which exhibited works produced at the workshops held by Stefano Arienti and Italo Zuffi, Care Of at Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan and Abecedario della storia sotto il tappeto, MAR, Ravenna in 2011.
