The long-awaited local celebration of art and creativity, the Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale, is fast taking shape, with the latest development being the team of organisers partnering up with APS Bank.

Malta's utmost creatively-charged initiative is taking place between 13 November 2015 and 7 January 2016. The Biennale, which will officially kick off with APS Bank's Annual Concert will, through its programme of events, exhibit a spectrum of works of art displayed together under one theme, namely that of 'Christianity, Spirituality and the Other.'

The tradition of holding an Mdina Biennale can be traced back to the Contemporary Sacred Art in Malta of 1994, the first event of its kind which underscored museums as depositories of cultural achievements "attained by man's will-power extending itself in all directions emerging from human intelligence".

The upcoming edition, that considers all art to be spiritual in the sense that all works being highlighted mirror the artist's relation with reality, will be under the artistic directorship of Dr Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci, a well renowned name in the local art scene.

A series of events, such as a University Fair, a Jazz Evening, and a Poetry Reading among many others, will take place in spectacular venues such as St Paul's Cathedral, Palazzo de Piro, the Mdina Ditch and the Cathedral Museum Refectory.
