SG 1Svetlana Gaivan is a professional artist - a painter, iconographer and restorer. She graduated from the State Academy of Slavic Culture, the Orthodox Institute for the Humanities 'So-deystviye' and from the Ostankino Photo School in 2008. She is a member of the Union of Photographers of Russia.

She has created her most significant projects whilst collaborating with "Workshop on the Mount", a project through which it has been possible to combine her existing skills and vision of contemporary art along the vector of Christian spirituality.

In her works, Svetlana combines modernity and symbolism as a timeless space, using the technique of gilding on photography, drawings, stripes or complex collage. She uses the language of contemporary art in an eclectic conjunction with traditional forms for a new angle of vision in a creative dialogue, actualizing the most important or profound questions of today. Icons by Gaivan are in churches in various regions of Russia. She was also a participant in the painting of the iconostasis in the city of Zaraysk and the artistic director and author of a project to create a new iconography for the Cathedral of the Holy German Lands in Coburg
(Germany). She is an active member in all the projects of by "Workshop on the Mount".
