Rachel Galea2Rachel Galea was born in Malta in 1973 and moved to Gozo when she was eleven years old. Rachel always had a keen interest in painting and began attending lessons in art at an early age. After finishing school she worked at her family business, yet her interest in painting remained, and after becoming a mother she continued her artistic studies with professional British artist Graham Gurr for 4 years.rachel galea1

Within a couple of years she began exhibiting in collective exhibitions and held her first solo exhibition 'Alive in Colour' at the Banca Giuratale, Victoria in August 2009, receiving much local acclaim. A second solo exhibition was held in November 2009 at the Hotel Excelsoir, Floriana, and in April 2011 Rachel held her third solo exhibition 'Colours of an Island' at the Banca Giuratale. Her latest solo exhibition 'Landscape Expressions' was held in February 2013. Currently her works are featured in a co-exhibition with Sue Nightingale titled 'Two of a Kind'.

Rachel has established herself locally. She works in a variety of media and deals with a range of topics producing fantasy, abstract and landscape paintings. Her personal style has been developing over a number of years and her work can sometimes be conceptual and other times more impressionistic.
