Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci, Artistic Director of the Mdina Biennale and Senior Lecturer in the Department of History of Art, University of Malta, will be reading Yevtushenko's most distinguished poem Babi Yar in the presence of the poet. Babi Yar is a poem which memorialises the Nazi genocide at Babi Yar, Kiev, Ukraine. About 150,000 Jews were murdered, other 70000 included gipsies, Ukrainians, Russians, partisans, homosexuals and mentally sick people.

The literary evening will take place on June 28 at the Russian Chapel in San Anton Palace, Attard at 7.30pm.
It will be moderated by Maltese writer and Mdina Biennale participant Immanuel Mifsud.
Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
